Shelby and I met when I began the Facebook group for the new Heritage neighborhood on RR12. She is on the sales team for Trip-Pointe homes. I drove to her office in south Austin to do some video tours of the models and loved hearing more about her and her husband, Tim!
He is a home inspector and they are Drip natives… so you know I had to introduce you to them! Meet my new friends, Shelby and Tim!
Hey Shelby and Tim! Tell us more about yourselves…
Tim and I both grew up in Dripping Springs, but actually didn’t meet until Tim moved back to Austin after playing baseball at Galveston College. We have been together for ten years and married for three! We were very fortunate to get married in January of 2020, right before the world shut down. We love to spend time outside, whether we are walking our dog or playing sand volleyball at Moontower.
Tim has a Home Inspection business, Odell Home Inspections, and is a licensed home inspector. I have been in New Home Sales for the last 7 years since graduating from UT Austin (with a Biology degree)!
How long have you lived in Dripping Springs?
Tim spent his entire first 18 years in Dripping Springs, and I moved to the area in Second grade. We have recently moved back to Dripping Springs after living on the East side of Austin for ten years because we missed it so much!
What brought you back here?
Dripping Springs is home to us. We love the hill country, the dark skies, but most importantly the people! Though growing, Dripping Springs still has a small-town feel where everyone you meet is a friend.
Tell us about your huge German Shepherd, Shiner…
Shiner, at 120 pounds, is our giant baby. He is a people pleaser and loves to cuddle. He is also extremely uncoordinated at times and has no self-awareness. He is now 6 years old but still as playful and full of energy as ever! He has a unique color but is full German Shepherd-he is one-of-a-kind!
What are you excited about for the Heritage neighborhood?
I am so excited to bring more opportunities for people to be able to live in and enjoy Dripping Springs as much as we do. Our homes offer a modern twist to the Southern charm that is so central to the area. With 21 innovative, design-forward floor plans and prices starting in the low 400’s, I know that we have something for homebuyers in all walks of life! We have some homes already under construction, but also have opportunities for customers to visit our award-winning design studio and personalize their home from top to bottom!

What made Tim decide to go into home inspections?
From an early age, I have always had an interest in learning how different things work, taking them apart, and putting them back together.
When I was 15, I began to spend Summers and Christmas breaks helping my dad with building maintenance at a dormitory in Austin. This was where I realized that I have a great eye for detail and that I enjoyed the hands-on aspect of building maintenance and repairs.
My friends and family often call me the “Jack-of-All-Trades.” After being exposed to the real estate world through Shelby, I felt that I could provide an exceptional service by putting these skills to work as a Professional Home Inspector, and thus Odell Home Inspections came to life!
What are some common things that people can check in their homes that come up commonly on inspections?
This is a great question. One thing I notice when I do inspections is that homeowners tend to forget to change out their air filters. Whether it’s just one whole house filter or several ones throughout the house, it is important to know when to change them. Depending on your HVAC system, it could be every month or up to every 6 months. I always advise my clients to set themselves a calendar invite to remind them when it’s time to put fresh filters in. Having clean air filters is essential for your energy efficiency along with keeping allergens out of the air.
The next most common items I find have to do with windows and doors. Check to make sure that all doors and windows operate properly, including the locking mechanisms. Look for any signs of damage or wear and have them replaced if necessary. Windows and doors that don’t latch properly are not only a safety issue, but affect the overall efficiency of your home.
What do you and Tim enjoy doing for fun in Dripping Springs?
We have loved re-learning Dripping Springs and have made it our mission to try every new restaurant and brewery that have opened since we left! Anywhere that we can grab a drink and sit outside is ideal for us(while the weather is nice)!
Tim loves to smoke BBQ, so Founder’s Day is something we look forward to each year where him and his friends can compete in the BBQ Cook-off.
Where do you recommend visitors go to enjoy the full Drip experience?
The perfect day in Dripping Springs: Start your day with a coffee from Mazama and a Flores breakfast taco(particularly the Combo), and head to Reimer’s Ranch for a hike and some beautiful views. Spend the afternoon brewery hopping around Fitzhugh Road, and finish your day with some BBQ at The Salt Lick!
