It’s no secret that Dripping Springs is known for its’ craft alcohol, wedding venues, small town feel and beautiful NATURE!!

Hamilton Pool is one of the most iconic outdoor tourist destination in Dripping Springs, Texas and I couldn’t wait to go and see it for myself last fall.

Can you imagine being the first person to stumble upon this Texan wonder? Legend has it that an 8 year old discovered it! I bet he jumped in and had the best swim of his life!

Hamilton Pool is a beautiful, 232 acre park located north west of Dripping Springs on Hamilton Pool road headed towards Johnson City. The overhang area by the pool has a 50 foot waterfall that is flowing year round, even during drought seasons! The park is a part of the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve, which is a 31,000 acre habitat that is home to endangered species.

Reservation hours are from 9-12:30 for morning reservations and 2-5:30 for afternoon reservations.

I had my eye on their website for months because they had shut the park down completely during covid. When they finally opened it I booked one of the first available dates and took my family to explore one Sunday morning.

It is a short 15 minute hike down to the waterfall and has a small beach area to sit and enjoy the view.

Swimming has been closed there for over a year and after the great snowpocalypse that happened in Texas this February some of the boulders have collapsed and visitors are no longer allowed to walk underneath the cave trail due to dangerous conditions.

My kids loved seeing the crystal clear waters with big catfish swimming around and standing under the waterfall on the giant rock. You can also hike down to the Pedernales River from the main trail. My son, Solomon, even created a youtube video about it- you can watch it HERE.
