The Numbers Game: Student Count 2023

First things first, let’s talk numbers. With a student count of 2,514 for the year 2023, Dripping Springs High School is buzzing with youthful energy and diverse talents. Class sizes range from 23-30.

Safety First: The SRO Initiative

When it comes to safety, Dripping Springs High School leaves no stone unturned. Through a contract with the Hays County Sheriff’s Department, School Resource Officers (SROs) are always present on campus. This ensures a safe and secure environment where students can focus on what’s important—learning, growing and making life long memories!

In Texas…we love our sports!

Are you an aspiring athlete or just someone who loves to stay active? Well, you’re in luck! The school offers a ton of sports, including:

  • Golf
  • Powerlifting
  • Soccer
  • Softball

The Tiger Shack: Where Business Meets Brew

Now, let’s switch gears and talk about something that’ll perk you right up—coffee! The Tiger Shack is a student-run coffee shop tied to the Business Entrepreneurship class. Open to upper-classmen who have completed the prerequisite courses and passed the application process, this shop serves as a real-world business laboratory. From lattes to seasonal favorites, the Tiger Shack has got your caffeine cravings covered. Follow their instagram HERE.

Foodie Alert: Flores Taco Shop & Cafeteria Choices

Many students kickstart their day with breakfast tacos from Flores Taco Shop on HWY 290 right down the street from the high school (it’s a local hot spot for breakfast!). But that’s not all! The school cafeteria offers a range of mouth-watering options:

  • Fresh Express (build-your-own sandwich)
  • Italian Line (pizza and pasta galore)
  • Regular Hot Lunch Line
  • Frozen Yogurt/Snack Line

Advanced Placement and Dual Credit: A Head Start on College

If you’re looking to challenge yourself academically, Dripping Springs High School has got you covered with a range of Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Credit courses.

Dual Credit and Dual Enrollment

The school offers access to both dual credit and dual enrollment right on campus. Dual credit classes are taught by Austin Community College (ACC) instructors, starting as early as ninth grade. This means you can earn both high school and college credit simultaneously. How cool is that?

But wait, there’s more! Dual enrollment classes are a collaborative effort between DSISD teachers and professors from the University of Texas. Again, you can earn both high school and college credit. Click HERE for more info!

Financials and Support

The best part? Currently, there’s no cost for enrolling in these programs if they’re completed on the DSHS campus. However, students taking ACC classes will need to purchase textbooks. If you decide to enroll in classes at ACC, the cost is $150 per course, plus textbooks. And don’t worry about the nitty-gritty; high school counselors, along with ACC counselors, are there to guide you through the registration process, TSI testing, and course enrollment.
