This is where local interior design firm, HouseMill Design, comes in! I am partnering with them to bring you the latest info on what’s trending in the design world for homes in Dripping Springs. Check out their top 7 trends to watch for in 2026 specifically for the Dripping Springs area.

1- Materials that Look and Feel Handmade – Earthy and textural – homeowners are appreciating materials like hand hewn wood beams, saltillo or zellige tile and limestone with a German schmear finish. These regionally specific materials highlight the region’s history and personality.
2- Indoor – Outdoor Living – Given the relatively warm climate year round, homeowners want easy access to enjoy their patios, decks and gardens just as much as their indoor space. A common remodel request: putting in large sliding doors to connect a living or dining room to the patio.
3- More Color than just Black + White – Gone are the stark white, open concept rooms with only black windows for contrast. We are seeing a new desire for more warmth brought in with earth tone color palettes and a variety of stained wood architectural details (think beams, cabinetry, ceiling treatments).

4- Updated Window Treatments – With so many sunny days a year, homeowners are willing to embrace the layered look and invest money into the practicality of window treatments that block sun, provide insulation and finish out a room.
5- Butler’s Pantry or “Dirty Kitchen” – New construction homes are leaning into the trend to have a sizable Butler’s Pantry to house hardworking appliances, a second sink and all food storage so cooking messes can stay out of the ever popular gathering spot, the Kitchen.
6- Mixing Metal Finishes – Choosing all matte black plumbing, hardware and lighting is not a thing anymore. Blending brushed metal finishes in subtle gold, silver, and charcoal tones gives an elevated look to a kitchen or bathroom.

7- Dark Sky Compliance – Homeowners and some HOA’s are sensitive about choosing exterior light fixtures and landscape lighting that point downward in order to not disrupt the beautiful night sky (and the migratory patterns of birds or other nocturnal animals).
While design trends may shift and change year over year, having a trusted team of professionals to help you find and create your own personal home sanctuary is timeless. We love what we do and we are thankful to be able to serve the Dripping Springs community with new construction home design, remodel design plans and furnishing and decor needs.
