Hey Landon! Tell us more about yourself…
While I officially moved to Dripping Springs after graduating from grad school in 2020, my family has a long history here. I grew up regularly visiting my family’s ranch just outside downtown Drip and I always knew this is where I wanted to live. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with an undergraduate degree in Architecture and subsequently attended Texas A&M University to receive two masters degrees in Architecture and Property and Land Development. While at grad school, I was assigned a random roommate – my now my business partner – Mitch. He’s always been around real estate since his childhood; his dad was in the Air Force so he moved seven times in eleven years growing up. During that time, he would tag along with his Mom to every house showing or contract negotiation and has had a passion for real estate and development ever since.
Mitch and I soon became close friends and quickly began working on a wide array of projects together. From installing landscaping projects, to building lighting fixtures, constructing a chicken coop for some college friends down the street, and even designing and building a fully custom tiny home together our final year in school, we were always looking for our next project together.
After designing 100+ custom homes and being the project manager for 30+ builds myself, and Mitch having been involved in the finance and business management side of the construction industry post-grad, it was only a matter of time before we came together to create Aperture Development Group.
What do you love most about living here?
I think Dripping Springs and the surrounding communities are situated in such a unique place to take advantage of the best of two worlds. In twenty minutes you can be in the heart of one of the best cities in the country, or in five minutes you can be surrounded by ranches and sweeping hill country views. I don’t think there’s many places that cater to such polar opposites so well, creating a uniquely beautiful mix of cultures and lifestyles.
How did you get into building homes?
I have always loved being able to create something that people have a personal connection with. Throughout architecture school, I was always drawn more closely to projects that were smaller and more intimate in nature. After working on a few custom home designs, I knew that designing and building directly with the individuals using the project was where I needed to be. Contrary to what I think most builders would say, the clients are my favorite part of the process and I love being able to work together to make a home come to life!
What do you love about mid-century architecture?
The word “aperture” means an element offering a controlled connection between interior and exterior in buildings, or an opening through which light is admitted. We chose that name because of how integral windows, or “apertures,” are to our take on mid-century architecture. As a designer, I love how that makes our homes so true to form. Everything you see serves an architectural purpose and creates a unique aesthetic quality. In our builds you’ll find floor to ceiling windows paired with natural timber beams that create a seamless transition from inside to outside. Our houses have the inviting quality that you expect in a home while maintaining a lively and dynamic environment that is perfect for entertaining.
What services do you offer with Aperture Design Group?
Aperture Design Group, the design-focused wing of our building company Aperture Development Group, focuses on all of the pre-construction design, planning, and marketing necessary before the actual construction process begins. From initial “napkin sketches” to fully detailed project renderings, Aperture Design Group is a turnkey design firm with you throughout the entire build process! While we love being able to build our designs, we do also offer full-service designs for most any project, allowing us to work with clients in any market.
How long does it take to build a home with you?
The building process timeline can vary quite a bit due to many external factors, however because of our dedicated pre-construction planning process, our homes take around 20% less time on average to build than other custom builders in the area. We shoot for 6-8 months from the time the slab is poured to handing over the keys to your new home!
Can you build anywhere in the hill country?
Being based in Dripping Springs, we’re able to work on projects all around the west side of the Austin metro. Our typical range would include Fischer and Wimberley to the south, Blanco and Johnson City to the west, Bee Cave and Spicewood to the north, and anywhere in between!

Utilizing heightened design philosophies and merging with how twenty-first century families live, we are able to create beautiful spaces that facilitate truly livable experiences that are not found in the typical, uninspired new home builds of today.
