I met Jenna a year ago at a women’s fundraiser for Young Life, after following her social media for a few years, and immediately loved her! She had so much style and was such a fun person to be around. Recently I’ve been hearing about the Mahjong craze in women my age and Jenna mentioned that she was starting her own line of tiles. Of course I had to do an interview and feature this amazing Dripping Springs interior designer and now Mahjong tile designer! Meet my friend, Jenna…
Hey Jenna! Tell us more about yourself and your family.
From a very early age, I used art and fashion to express myself. What started as sketching outfits and experimenting with style eventually turned into launching my own apparel lines that were sold across the U.S., and later, building an award-winning interior design business. Creating has always been how I process the world.
I’m drawn to the idea that beautiful things can genuinely impact how someone lives and finds joy in their everyday life. Whether it’s a room, a table, or now a set of tiles, I love designing things that make people feel something.

I’m also a firm believer that you are in the driver’s seat of your life. If you want something, you have to go build it. That’s something my husband and I actively instill in our two kids. We’re a family of dreamers. We focus on possibility, on gratitude, and on finding ways to make the world a little more beautiful in whatever way we can.
We were Chicago city-slickers for many years. When our daughter was two, we made the difficult decision to leave the city we loved because of the rising crime. It was emotional, but it led us somewhere unexpected and wonderful.
What do you love about living in Dripping Springs?
About four years ago, we moved to Dripping Springs from Lakeway because we were craving something more grounded for our kids. I love that Dripping feels like a “big little town.” You can jump on the highway and be in downtown Austin in 30 minutes, but then come home to open skies, land, and quiet.
After years in Chicago high-rises, having space to stretch out, plant things, and watch our kids run barefoot outside still feels surreal. There’s a strong sense of community here. People show up for each other. It feels slower in the best way.
Dripping gave us the space to build the life we actually wanted, not just the one we were used to.
Tell us about Mahjong. What is this new popular game and why do people love it?
Mahjong actually dates back to the mid-1800s in China and has evolved over time, especially in the United States where the National Mah Jongg League version is widely played.
At its core, it’s a strategic tile game played with four people. It blends skill, pattern recognition, and just enough luck to keep things interesting. A typical game can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on the group.
What people really fall in love with, though, isn’t just the game. It’s the ritual. It’s sitting around the table with friends, unplugged, laughing, concentrating, sometimes competing a little too hard. It gives adults something to look forward to every week.
It can feel intimidating at first, but once it clicks, it’s incredibly addictive in the best way.

Are there local Mahjong groups, or how can people try it out?
Yes, and that’s one of the things I love about this area. A few Dripping Springs locals started a company called Mahj Social Club. They host open plays and offer lessons, and they’re wonderful for beginners.
Mahj with Marci is another favorite of mine for lessons and league play. I always recommend taking at least two lessons when you’re starting. The first one can feel overwhelming, but by the second, you begin to see the rhythm of the game.
Once you get the hang of it, you truly can’t get enough.
You’re an interior designer who launched a mahjong brand centered on the home. How did Haus of Tiles begin?
Mahjong started as something deeply personal for me. My daughter and I began playing together almost every day after school, and it quickly became our ritual, a way to slow down, connect, and have fun together.
But as an interior designer, I couldn’t ignore how the sets looked on my table. The colors and patterns felt disconnected from the spaces I had so intentionally designed. Mahjong was becoming part of our daily life, yet the objects themselves didn’t reflect the aesthetic of our home.
I kept thinking there had to be a way to bring design into the game, to create tiles and mats that felt elevated, cohesive, and beautiful enough to live in the home even when you weren’t playing.
So I did what designers do when we can’t find something we love. I designed it myself. Haus of Tiles was born from the idea that objects of play can also be objects designed to be displayed™.

Tell us about the name, Haus of Tiles.
Haus of Tiles grew from my interior design company, Coveted Haus, and from the way I think about the home itself. To me, a haus is more than just a place you live. It’s the feeling inside it, the personality layered throughout, and the story unfolding in every room.
Everything we design is meant to live beautifully in your haus, as part of your everyday space. Mahjong becomes part of the room, styled on a table, displayed on a shelf, or gathered around with friends, rather than something that only comes out on occasion.
There’s also a fashion influence in the name. A fashion house creates collections with a strong identity and point of view, and we approach our tiles and accessories the same way. Each collection has its own personality, yet everything is designed to work together effortlessly.
You often say “your tiles should tell your story.” What does that mean?
Mahjong is more than just a game. It’s something you return to again and again. It lives on your table, comes out when friends gather, and slowly becomes part of your memories.
Just like the art you hang or the objects you collect, your tiles become part of your home’s story. They sit in the background while conversations unfold, friendships deepen, and traditions form.
Some people gravitate toward classic palettes, others toward bold colors or patterns inspired by travel, the West, or their own personal style. However you express yourself in your home, your tiles can reflect that too.
Over time, they carry the story of the people who sit around your table and the memories you build together. They become more than game pieces. They become part of your life.

What makes Haus of Tiles different?
Haus of Tiles is the first full mahjong collection created by an interior designer, built on the belief that the game you love should feel as beautiful as the home you play it in.
We design tiles and accessories that feel intentional in a room, pieces you’re proud to leave out, whether styled in a bowl on a credenza or set up for game night.
Our collections are rooted in color theory, pattern play, and thoughtful design, striking a balance between bold and refined. We like to say our aesthetic is minimalist and maximalist, enough personality to make a statement, but calm enough to live in your home every day.
We also design everything to mix and match. Just like layering textiles or finishes in a space, you can build a mahjong setup that feels curated and uniquely yours over time.

Where can we follow along on your launch of Haus of Tiles?
You can follow along at @shophausoftiles and at www.shophausoftiles.com.
We’re building something that blends design, ritual, and connection, and it’s been such a joy launching it right here from Dripping Springs.
