Today our Magnolia Realty Austin Hill Country office got to tour Icon 3D printed homes at Wimberley Springs in Wimberley, Texas! This development is only 15 miles south of Dripping Springs and was so cool to be able to see in person and up close!
We began our tour with the listing agent at her office and learned about the floor plans and technology before driving over to the build site where we had to put on a hard hat and be guided through the homes as they were being “printed” by the Icon robots. You could hear the low whir of the printed as it moved with precision and added another layer of concrete to the interior and exterior walls. Pretty cool stuff.
This Austin based company is contracted to build homes on the Moon one day!
Wimberley Springs will have 8 custom homes printed by Icon Robots and will have their signature cement bead look and curved walls. These homes are extremely energy efficient and can withstand 250+ mph wind, have a 3 hour fire rating, an R24 insulation value and can be built from the ground up within 3-4 months! They are also mold, water and termite resistant. Talk about low maintenance!
The floor plans are very futuristic and have tons of windows, a standing seam metal roof and beautiful interiors. Pricing begins at $885k and goes up to $1.3 million.
