This weekend was the biggest festival of the year in Dripping Springs- Founders Day! In preparation for the big weekend I attended the parade meeting and they had said that it was the biggest turnout they had ever had for the parade.
Companies were buying t-shirt launchers, 1500 footballs, hundreds of pounds of candy and spending tens and hundreds of hours on their marketing and float building.
Magnolia Realty has had a float in the parade since I’ve been in the group and this year we aimed to win the trophy again! Heather Jones and Kristi Metcalf spearheaded the design and implementation to build a Celebrate Home in Dripping float to take home the trophy again!
Everyone met at the office to stuff tissue paper in chicken wire and help organize everything for the week leading up to Founders and then the weather app started showing a percent chance for rain.
We all swore it off like it would vanish, but as it got closer and closer to the time we could see that it was going to be a big and bold Texas thunderstorm. At 1 Pm on Friday the commission cancelled the parade without rescheduling.
BUMMER.
BIG. BUMMER.
I had a huge promotion I was planning to begin during the parade with temporary tattoos and I couldn’t believe all of the hard work that our office and tons of other local businesses put in to their parade efforts that were now in vain.
I love funny gifts and earlier that week had ordered Heather and Kristi custom trophies to make them laugh and honor their efforts and time put in to making our float amazing. They ended up being the only people in Dripping to get a parade trophy after all! Woohoo!
We gave out thousands of totes and magnolia journals and enjoyed riding rides, eating fried food and BBQ and being a part of the community!
Can’t wait until Founders Day comes around next year!
