When you get around on Instagram it won’t be long until you discover Hill Country Chronicles! She is always showcasing the local outdoor fun, festivals and showing quick tours of these beautiful places in Dripping Springs and the Texas Hill Country! She and I began following each other last year and I recognized her at Christmas on Mercer when I was painted green and wearing the Grinch costume. Ha! I don’t think she recognized me (obviously!), but I knew I had to meet her in real life! You should give her a follow on Instagram to see the hill country through her lens!
Hey Danielle! Tell us more about yourself…
I live right near Historic Mercer street and have a Corgi named Barley who loves getting out and exploring the hill country with me!
What brought you to Dripping Springs?
I moved to Dripping Springs to live closer to my parents! They decided to retire to the Texas Hill Country after living overseas and decided on beautiful Dripping Springs.
What made you choose to get a biology degree and how are you using that now?
I went to the University of Texas.. Hook em 😉 and majored in Biology because I’ve always loved the science field. I work from home now for a pharmaceutical company doing data review. I love being able to utilize my degree and then run my HillCountryChronicles as my creative outlet!
What gave you the idea to start your IG account?
I’ve always been into the arts and love crafting, painting and photography. I moved to Dripping Springs and was so captivated by how beautiful the area is so I began my HillCountryChronicles to showcase landscape and wildlife photos I was taking. People began following along and my account grew, so I started showcasing places to go, events, and things to do in the area.
Is it fun to be a social media influencer? Do people recognize you when you go different places?
It’s definitely fun! I have connected with so many new faces through my page. I’ve been noticed a few times at events or while exploring and I love when people come up to me and say hello!
I bet you’ve seen so many of this area’s best spots! What are your top 3 favorite places to go when you have a night or weekend off?
I love stopping in for a cocktail at Grawlix, meeting friends for dinner at Trattoria Lisina in Driftwood, or doing staycations close by in Fredericksburg or Wimberley.
What do you enjoy doing for fun when you aren’t working?
I love getting out and enjoying all the outdoorsy things our area has to offer like hiking at Reimers ranch or exploring Westcave Preserve. You can find me visiting the wineries, or distilleries in the area and catching live music!
If you were to create an itinerary for someone coming to Dripping Springs from out of state- what would you have them do to experience the best of this area in one weekend?
I’d recommend grabbing a coffee at our friendly coffee house Mazama and taking a stroll down historic Mercer Street to browse the boutiques. Vintage Soul and Starrs on Mercer are a couple of my favorites! After doing some shopping, I’d tell them to take a beautiful drive over to the Texas Hill Country Olive Co for lunch- be sure to do a balsamic and olive oil tasting. After lunch, I’d recommend checking out some of our local breweries, distilleries or wineries. A few of my favorites are Dripping Springs Distilling, Jester King Brewery, and Bell Springs Winery.
