Buggy Barn Museum | Dripping Springs Day Trip

A few weeks ago I was invited to an event where we got to step back in time at the Buggy Barn Museum in Blanco, Texas, just a short 30 minute drive southwest from Dripping Springs.

Buggy Barn Museum in Blanco, Texas

It’s located right off the road on HWY 281 north of Blanco, Texas. I’ve never even noticed it before, so be sure to look next time your’e headed that way from Johnson City! I was in for an incredible surprise when we walked through the gates! I haven’t ever seen an old western town made this authentic before.

This museum began as a collection of old buggies by Dennis Moore when his kids were in high school in 2011. He started renting them out to weddings and events and loved it so much that he began collecting more and more… and more!

He now has over 200 buggies, carriages and wagons that are used in movies and films. He even has one that was used in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (my mom’s favorite show in the 90s! Ha!).

He decided to build an old west town called Pine Moore Town Old West Studio as an ode to the old west!

It can be rented out as a movie set and visited by guests from 9-5 Monday-Friday and 9-4 on Saturdays.

Each historical building is filled with antiques and items that really do make you feel like you’re wandering around on the movie set of True Grit.

Speaking of True Grit, one of the buggies used in the movie is located at the museum!

The cost to visit the museum is $12/adults, $10/seniors and veterans and $8/kid.

The private event was such a fun experience! There were horse drawn carriage rides, an entertaining show by Pistol Paula, a chuckwagon dinner cooked over coals and flame by cowboys and live music.

It really is so amazing how many cool experiences there are within an hour of Dripping Springs. Living in the Texas Hill Country is my absolute favorite.
